This study looked at the peculiarities of making composition hydrogels (CH) from cross-linked polyacrylic acid (PAAc) and bentonite clay (BC). The crystalline structure of montmorillonite has been disrupted in CHs due to the penetrative of polymeric macromolecules between bundle layers, resulting in a uniform homogenous structure, according to optical microscopy and X-ray diffraction. The kinetics of obtained CH swelling in water were investigated, and it was discovered that they have a high water sorption ability over a wide pH range. The sorption of methylene blue (MB) by gels from aqueous solutions was investigated using the statistical approach. CHs were shown to have a higher sorption capacity than hydrogels on a PAAc basis. Because MB sorption has increased with rising medium temperature, chemisorption has resulted in MB attaching to CHs.
