Study on the Effect of Vietnamese Bambusa stenostachyum Fiber on the Properties of PP/bamboo Fiber-organoclay Composite| Chapter 1 | Recent Trends in Chemical and Material Sciences Vol.6

For the new composite material with novel performance, fibres of Vietnamese Bambusa stenostachyum (BF), a high-cellulose-content bamboo species, were combined into a polypropylene (PP) matrix. We also looked into the chemical composition of this Bambusa stenostachyum and used a variety of surface modification techniques to improve the compatibility of natural fibres with the PP matrix. The PP/BF composite has been reinforced using glyceride-modified montmorillonite to further improve the material's characteristics (MMT). Mechanical parameters were assessed, including tensile strength and Young's modulus study. Thermogravimetric (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) techniques were also used to investigate the composites' thermal properties.
