Jute Fiber Incorporated Starch-Chitosan-blended Film - A Descriptive Assessment| Chapter 2 | Recent Trends in Chemical and Material Sciences Vol.6

Chemically treated jute fibre is added to starch-chitosan blended films that are crosslinked with calcium chloride in this study. Because starch-chitosan films are brittle and soluble, 1 percent, 2 percent, 3 percent, and 4 percent jute fibre was added to make the blended film more hard and stable and to increase its strength and make it insoluble. The films were cast in their respective roles. The produced films' swelling behaviour and solubility, expressed as percent Total Soluble Matter (percent TSM), are measured. Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR), and Thermogravimetric Analysis are used to characterise the produced films (TGA).
