A Case Series of Foreign Body Aspiration | Chapter 20 | Issues and Developments in Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 3

Foreign body aspiration (FB aspiration) is a common condition in children that necessitates early detection and treatment to avoid potentially life-threatening complications. FB ambition is still a leading cause of death in children, particularly in pre-schoolers. In the treatment of FB inhalation in children, early detection with a high index of suspicion is crucial.

Methodology: We present a case series of six patients with a foreign body in their airway who presented to the emergency department of M.G.M Medical College and M.Y. Hospital in Indore with complaints of abrupt onset cough or trouble breathing.

In the paediatric age group, foreign body aspiration is a common but potentially life-threatening emergency. In situations of foreign body aspiration, this case series demonstrates the importance of prompt diagnosis and effective therapy by bronchoscopic removal.

Conclusion: Foreign body aspiration remains an increasing concern for ENT surgeons, as it is vital to diagnose and treat such patients as fast as feasible. Rigid bronchoscopy is the gold standard treatment method, with the Hopkins Rod Telescope and Optical Forceps being the most recent advancements.
