Study of Magnetic Properties of Rare-earth Doped Cobalt Ferrite Nanoparticles via Green Approach | Chapter 05 | Recent Trends in Chemical and Material Sciences Vol. 8

Green sol-gel auto combustion with lemon juice was used to make samarium (Sm) doped cobalt (CoFe1.9Sm0.1O4) ferrite nanoparticles. The prepared sample was sintered for 4 hours at 800°C. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Field Emission Gun Scanning electron microscopy (FEG-SEM) were used to explore the crystal structure and morphological features of ferrite nanoparticles doped with samarium (Sm). A vibrating sample magnetometer was used to investigate the magnetic characteristics of the ferrite nanoparticle. The saturation magnetization, coercively, remanence, Bohr magnetons, and anisotropy constants (K) were calculated using the M-H hysteresis loops. The generated ferrite nanoparticle has a crystallite size of 10 to 22 nanometers.
