A Case Report on Ankle Joint Pathology of Car Drivers and Passengers | Chapter 03 | New Horizons in Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 10

The investigation identified a novel pathological condition of the ankle joint: persistent deformation produced by rotational movement when getting out of the automobile. We treated 26 patients (n=26) with chronic insufficiency owing to ankle joint deformity, which resulted in limited dorsal flexion of the foot and pain syndrome during a 16-year period. When getting out of the automobile, the causes of ankle joint deformity became apparent. The instability of the joint causes the discomfort. In our research, we explain how countries with "right traffic regulations" – left leg by vehicles and right leg by pedestrians – might have this unique sort of foot insufficiency – "instability of the ankle joint" and pain syndrome as a result of "permanent distortion of the ankle joint."
