Mucocele of Appendix-Imaging Findings | Chapter 01 | New Horizons in Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 9

The mucocele of the appendix is an uncommon condition characterised by cystic dilatation of the appendix and intraluminal mucinous secretion buildup. It is most usually caused by epithelial growth, however it can also be caused by inflammation or appendix blockage. It's sometimes discovered by mistake and looks like acute appendicitis. To minimise intra- and post-operative problems, a precise diagnosis is essential before planning suitable surgical therapy. This is an unique instance of a 25-year-old woman with persistent discomfort in the right iliac fossa. A CT scan of the abdomen confirmed the diagnosis.
