Despite its importance in international trade, cross-border movement of commodities has been proven in the literature to be rendered more difficult and unpredictable by a variety of reasons. The creation and operation of One Stop Border Posts (OSBPs) in Rwanda, as well as other areas of the world, was supposed to diminish and eventually eliminate such causes. OSBPs established, implemented, and operationalized at the East African Community (EAC) level are designed to make cross-border commerce and commodities movement easier. As a result, the purpose of this chapter is to review the execution of OSBP's trade facilitation effort along Rwandan customs stations, as well as to investigate the extent to which OSBP's initiative influences the movement of commodities across Rwandan borders. Despite its importance in international trade, research has shown that cross-border transportation of commodities is more complex and unpredictable for a variety of reasons. The establishment and operation of One Stop Border Posts (OSBPs) in Rwanda and other parts of the world was intended to reduce and finally eliminate such reasons. The East African Community (EAC) has constructed, built, and operationalized OSBPs to facilitate cross-border trade and commodity mobility. As a result, the goal of this chapter is to look at how OSBP's trade facilitation effort is being carried out at Rwandan customs stations, as well as to see how OSBP's initiative affects the movement of goods across Rwandan borders.
