Corporate Tax and Stakeholders’ Benefits in a Challenging Economy: Evidence from Nigeria | Chapter 11 | New Innovations in Economics, Business and Management Vol. 9

The purpose of the study was to look into the link between company taxes and stakeholder benefits (employees, investors, and the host communities). The study focused on the link between corporation taxes and employee pay, dividends, and corporate social responsibility (expenditure). Data on chosen manufacturing enterprises was acquired from the companies' published annual financial statements using a descriptive research approach. With the help of E-views software, data was analysed using Ordinary Least Squares. Corporate tax and wage occurrences, as well as corporate tax and dividend payment, were found to have a strong link. Furthermore, it was discovered that the selected businesses' corporation tax and corporate social expenditure had a strong, positive link. As a result, by implication the research found that paying taxes motivates people to work more, implying higher wages for employees, more dividend payments, and more money to spend on corporate social responsibility.
