Pharmacological Evaluation and Characterization of Synthesis Chalcones and Its Derivatives| Chapter 13 | Challenges and Advances in Pharmaceutical Research Vol. 2

Chemistry, sometimes known as medicinal chemistry, is a branch of chemistry that deals with the design, methodization, and creation of drugs. The name chalcones refers to intensifiers that contain the (E)-1,3-diphenylprop-2-en-1-one, which can be functionalized in the propane chain by the presence of olefinic, keto, and hydroxyl groups. Chalcones are a prominent family of natural products that are precursors of flavonoids and isoflavonoids. Is (E)-1,3-diphenylprop-2-en-1-one, a synthetic compound in which two aromatic ring rings are linked by a three-carbon bond with a carbonyl moiety and, unsaturation. Antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-platelet, anti-ulcerative, antimalarial, anticancer, antiviral, anti-leishmanial, antioxidant, antitubercular, anti-hyperglycemic, immunomodulatory, inhibition of chemical mediators release, inhibition of leukotriene B4, inhibition of tyrosinase, and inhibition of aldose reductase activities are among the pharmacological activities of compounds with The major focus of this work is on chalcones produced via Claisen Schmidt condensation, which includes the condensation of an aromatic aldehyde or ketone with an aliphatic ketone or aldehyde in the presence of a dilute alkali or acid to generate an alpha beta unsaturated molecule. Various biological implications of chalcones and their derivatives have been documented, as well as their antibacterial activity against Bacillus pumilis, Bacillus subtilis (gram-positive) and Escherichia coli, Proteus vulgaris (gram-negative). Using a carrageenan-activated rodent paw oedema approach, the antiinflammatory activity of the sixteen chalcones was evaluated.
