Metformin HCl is an antidiabetic medication that belongs to the biguanidine pharmacological family. Metformin HCl (MET) in pure form and pharmaceutical formulations is determined using simple and innovative visible spectrophotometric procedures. The production of coloured complexes allows for the development of selective visible spectrophotometric approaches. The method is based on the reaction between the medication and metal ions such as Co(II) sulphate and Cu(II) chloride. The highest absorption wavelength for Co(II)-MET complex is 518 nm, while Cu(II)-MET complex is 660 nm. To get the maximum absorbance, the optimal conditions for complex formation are examined and optimised. The findings are compared statistically in terms of accuracy and precision using student's t and F tests with a 95% confidence level. The findings enable the use of established technologies for MET analysis in both pure form and commercial tablets.
