The current study aims to determine if race, together with other relevant factors, is a predictor of the overall number of people jailed in the United States. In the United States, imprisonment rates have gradually grown since the 1980s. Although the United States has only 4% of the world's population, it possesses 22% of the world's jailed population. When the races of these detained people are broken down by state, it becomes evident that minorities are incarcerated at far greater rates than Whites. Some may claim that a person's race influences whether or not they have negative interactions with law enforcement, are arrested, and convicted. Multiple possible predictor factors of the overall jailed population were examined using regression analysis in this study. to identify which, if any, are important predictors in the United States. We may deduce that a variety of factors impact the total number of people jailed in the United States. Race, financial health, and the state of the economy are examples of these factors. In order to make any additional assumptions, further study on the rates of various forms of crime would be required.
