Advances in cell and molecular biology have created totally new animal models that are now routinely employed to solve both practical and scientific concerns. In the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries, the greatest fantasies in this field became a reality. The development of genetically engineered fish, inbred strains, and humanised mouse models are among the most notable breakthroughs in this subject, as summarised in this article.
