The research examines the economics of coconut production in organic farming in the Coimbatore area of Tamil Nadu. The PGS was researched in regard to how farmers in Tamil Nadu gain organic agriculture certification under the PKVY scheme. The variable cost per acre estimated was Rs 43,025 The total cost of cultivation per acre was Rs.82,216. The net revenue per hectare over operating expenses was Rs.2,95,888, while the net income per hectare over total expenditures was Rs.2,56,697. Total output rose as a result of greater use of farm yard waste and bio-fertilizers. According to the scale efficiency statistics, the majority of the farms were operating at their maximum return to scale. Due to a labour shortage in the research region, cultivating organic coconut poses significant problems. The study's purpose was to establish the profitability of organic farming as well as the responsiveness of yield to input application through the Participatory Guarantee Scheme (PGS), as well as how farmers may actively engage in organic farming to protect natural resources. A total of 60 people were surveyed in the Tamil Nadu district of Coimbatore (2020). The study utilised deliberate sampling, with two blocks chosen based on the leading operator of the PGS system. A well-structured interview schedule was designed utilising a pre-tested survey to acquire the information. The study employed cost and return estimation, resource consumption efficiency, and data envelopment analysis as analytical approaches to reveal the true reality of organic agriculture practises. According to the findings,Coconut has been identified as one of the most essential and long-term agricultural possibilities. In comparison to all other organic inputs, coconut production was considerably greater with the application of farm yard manure and bio-fertilizers, according to estimates of Resource Use Efficiency.Almost a third of the farms investigated were found to be functioning in consistent returns to scale. The sample producers' main marketing challenges in organic farming were a lack of labour availability and price variations in coconut.
