The target. We looked at and interpreted media representations of white and non-white athletes in Brazilian sports in the light of various events in soccer's history.
Procedures that are fundamental. Based on Critical Discourse Analysis principles, we focus our research on how the sports media uses metaphors to explain performance loss. The most significant results Racism, which is illegal in Brazil, tends to have an effect on the lives, futures, and status of non-white soccer players, mostly in very subtle ways, by contrasting the media's treatment of white and non-white players' bad results. Final thoughts. Our findings indicate that white players are regularly evaluated based on their professional success, while non-white players are evaluated using racially charged, often derogatory categories that explicitly attack their character.Author (s) Details
