Early Loaded Single Implant Reinforced Mandibular Overdenture: A Case Report | Chapter 12 | Highlights on Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 10

For implant retained removable overdentures in the mandible, rehabilitating atrophied mandible with two-implant supported dentures is a frequent therapeutic option. This research attempts to design a treatment modality for a severely atrophied mandibular ridge using a single implant reinforced overdenture with an early loading strategy. Single implant overdentures can be a more cost-effective and less intrusive treatment option than two-implant retained overdentures. According to research, a single implant mandibular overdenture considerably improves the satisfaction and quality of life of edentulous individuals. The most common complication associated with single implant and two-implant retained mandibular overdentures is midline fracture of the prosthesis. To address this issue, a thin metal mesh is employed to support the overdenture while also making the prosthesis lighter and less expensive than traditional cast metal framework.
