An Overview of Noble Metal-Based Nanoparticles in Medicine | Chapter 4 | Current Advances in Chemistry and Biochemistry Vol. 5

Nanoparticles have unique size-dependent features, making them useful in a wide range of industries. Nanoparticles are particularly fascinating for medicine and pharmacology because of their ability to control their properties. The design of specialised nanostructures that can be utilised as unique diagnostic and therapeutic modalities is linked to the use of nanoparticles in medicine. Nanoparticles can be used for a variety of purposes, including medicine administration, radiosensitizers in radiation or proton therapy, bioimaging, and bactericides/fungicides. The purpose of this work is to describe the properties of noble metal-based nanoparticles, with a focus on their applications in medicine and related fields. Nanotechnology has paved the way for more effective treatment and diagnostics of a variety of ailments.
