Study on Corporate Social Responsibility and Financial Performance: The Spanish Case | Chapter 2 | New Horizons in Education and Social Studies Vol. 11

This research is conducted against the backdrop of the burgeoning interest in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) among academics and business leaders. Its aim is to look into the connection between corporate social responsibility and financial performance, as there is some debate in the literature on the subject. The research focuses on a subset of Spanish companies from the IBEX 35 stock market index, and it employs panel data methodology, which has advantages over other methodologies. The study was carried out between 2003 and 2010, so it is up to date. The findings indicate that, at least in Spain, there is no clear connection between corporate social responsibility and financial performance.
