Guided Bone Regeneration of an Atrophic Maxilla Using Heterologous Cortical Lamina: A Case Report | Chapter 11 | Research Trends and Challenges in Medical Science Vol. 10

Currently, alloplastic dental implants are the most effective way to repair missing teeth. It is important to have bone and soft tissue to support dental implants in order for them to perform properly and have a good prognosis. Shorts implants, zygomatic implants, and guided bone reconstruction have all been used when the amount of bone left is insufficient to ensure the implant's success. Despite the fact that autologous bone is still considered the "gold standard," other biomaterials such as xenografts have helped to reduce treatment morbidity and increase regeneration technique outcomes. We present a case of extreme maxillary atrophy treated with a variety of biomaterials, including heterologous cortical lamina, xenograft and autologous bone, and microscrews.
