Multi Objective Characteristics Optimization by Using Taguchi Coupled Grey Relational Analysis While Machining AA7075 Aluminium Alloys with Wire Electrical Discharge Machine | Chapter 13 | Advanced Aspects of Engineering Research Vol. 5

A wire electrical discharge machining technology for milling engineering materials has the ability to cut materials with difficult properties. A Taguchi coupled grey relational analysis (TGRA) approach is an established approach for determining the best machining parameter combination. Three Wire electrical discharge machining process parameters and output performance factors like surface roughness and material removal rate are considered in this study. The experimental approach was carried out in accordance with the orthogonal array design concept. The machining process performance characteristics were achieved using the following parameters: pulse on time of 110 msec, pulse off time of 60 msec, and input current of 10 amps. The results show that increasing the pulse on time increases the energy, and thus increasing the cutting rate improves the materials removal rate. The statistical study revealed that pulse on time is the most important process parameter, accounting for 93.87 percent of the total, followed by input current at 3.96 percent and pulse off time at 0.18 percent.
