Study on Modeling the Movement of Groundwater in a Rectangular Jumper with a Screen | Chapter 01 | Recent Advances in Mathematical Research and Computer Science Vol. 6

In the presence of evaporation from the free surface of groundwater, the present study provides an exact solution to the filtration problem in a rectangular cofferdam with a screen. An precise analytical solution of the problem of flow in a rectangular cofferdam with a screen in the presence of evaporation from the free surface of groundwater is given within the framework of planar steady-state filtration of incompressible fluid according to Darcy's law. The limiting cases of the considered motion are noted, including filtering in an unconfined reservoir to an incomplete gallery and flow in the absence of evaporation. The analysis reveals that, first and foremost, the filtering scheme in a rectangular cofferdam with impermeable screen is quite similar to the previously considered problem of groundwater transport to the defective gallery, with one of them being limiting in comparison to the other.
