Applied Aspects of Classical Thermodynamics. Part II: Some Consequences of Expressions for the Heat of Transition of Phase Transitions of the First Kind | Chapter 8 | Research Trends and Challenges in Physical Science Vol. 6

It is proven that there is no critical point on the melting line using the previously established formulas for the heat of melting and the heat of evaporation. At a critical point, an expression relating thermodynamic parameters is found. The estimated derivative at the critical point changes by only one or two percent, as illustrated. Also obtained is a completely new phrase for determining the volumes of atoms and molecules.
