Determining the Bulk Growth, Nucleation Kinetics, Optical and Spectral Analysis of Organic Nonlinear Material: 4-Chloroaniline (pCA) Single Crystal | Chapter 04 | Recent Trends in Chemical and Material Sciences Vol. 5

The organic nonlinear optical material 4-chloroaniline was formed as a single crystal by slow cooling (pCA). The material solubility was determined via gravimetric analysis, and the metastable zonewidth MSZW was evaluated at various temperatures. For various supersaturation ratios and temperatures, the induction period values were computed. The interfacial energy was calculated using experimentally obtained induction period values. The energy outputs were theoretically compared to experimental values derived from the solubility data. Gibb's free energy change, critical nuclei radius, number of molecules present in the nuclei, and nucleation rate were all determined as nucleation parameters. The unit cell parameters were calculated using X-ray diffraction analysis. The transmission properties of the pCA crystal were investigated using the UV-Vis-NIR spectrum. The numerous vibrational modes of distinct functional groups were identified and wavenumbers assigned using FT-Raman spectrum analysis. A Q-Switched Nd: YAG laser was used to measure the nonlinear optical property of the generated crystal, and the efficiency was compared to that of typical KDP.
