Dermatoglyphics have been used in forensic investigations, left-sided uniqueness identification, genetic illnesses, and mental disorders, and they are the foundation of many IQ tests for children. Dermatoglyphics are an excellent technique for determining whether a particular variant has a genetic foundation. They require a high degree of heritability and are unaffected by postnatal influences. Their frequency varies greatly from one population to the next. Pattern frequencies on the palm, ridge counts on the fingers, and variances in pattern frequencies on the right and left fingers are all examples. Dermatoglyphics are being used in clinical practise, and their utility will rise as we learn more about the ontogenetic formation of skin patterns, especially in relation to aberrant growth. Dermatoglyphics is a simple, cost-effective, and painless process. It has a medical connection since there is a relationship in the chronological order of development between the dentition and the surface. Genetic science has a strong influence on each of their development, but not entirely. Dermatoglyphics will aid in the antepartum diagnosis of diseases, which may aid in the detection of disease carriers. In such circumstances, sufficient education and counselling, as well as diagnostic techniques, are provided for the first affected foetuses.
