Medicinal Effects of Mollugo cerviana - A Brief Review | Chapter 05 | Current Aspects in Pharmaceutical Research and Development Vol. 7

 Humankind has been diagnosed with a wide spectrum of infections and ailments in recent years. Allopathic medications, on the other hand, are in short supply. In the last several years, we've gained a better understanding of illness aetiology and bioactive components, which has aided medication development. Plant extracts are used to strengthen the immune system in this circumstance, based on Ayurvedic and Siddha understanding. Mollugo cerviana is a phytochemical-dense herb found in India (commonly known as thread stem carpet weed). Fever, stomachaches, jaundice, gout, and rheumatism are all treated with this plant. It's also used to help with vaginal discharge after a baby is born. Antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and spermicidal activities are all present in the plant. The plant has a high hepatoprotective efficacy and photoprotective capacity due to the presence of phytochemicals such as carbohydrates, saponins, tannins, terpenoids, flavonoids, steroids, phenols, proteins, and alkaloids. In a nutshell, the majority of medical applications are due to plant extracts. This review is a collection of studies on Mollugo cerviana and its bioactivities that are useful.
