India is the world's largest producer and user of sugar. The wastewater produced by molasses-based distilleries, as well as their product (alcohol), is known as spent wash. It has an acidic nature, with high BOD and COD values. The sugar business generates value added product by incinerating spent wash, which produces ash powder that is potassium rich. Diseases, pests, drought, salinity, water logging, frost, and other biotic and abiotic stresses are all protected by potassium. As a result, a study was conducted to compare the effect of applying Value Added Product (VAP) as a potassic source on maize hybrid COHM(8) with that grown on Muriate of Potash (MOP) as a fertiliser source using a Randomized Complete Block recommendation) -K through VAP (T2), 75 percent STCR-K through VAP (T3), 100 percent STCR-K through VAP (T4), 125 percent STCR-K through VAP (T7). When compared to control, the results showed that 125 percent STCR-K as VAP provided better growth and yield characteristics, followed by 100 percent STCR-K as VAP and 75 percent STCR-K as VAP (T1). VAP from distillery spent wash (DSW) can be utilised as a substitute for inorganic potash fertiliser in maize crop cultivation to increase output and maintain soil health, according to the findings.
