Green synthesis of Copper Oxide Nanoparticles Decorated with Graphene oxide for Anticancer Activity and Catalytic Applications: An Advanced Study Approach | Chapter 10 | New Innovations in Chemistry and Biochemistry Vol. 6

Nanotechnology is a rapidly evolving field with many implications for medicine delivery. As haulers, nanoparticles considerably improve the capability of target-specific medicine delivery, and are consequently used in the treatment of dreadful diseases like cancer and diabetes. This boom's purpose was to make copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO-NPs) from Acalypha Indica leaf extract, which were subsequently mixed with graphene oxide (GO) to make GO-CuO nanocomposites. Second, examine CuO-NPs and GO-CuO nanocomposites' photocatalytic activity in the decolorization of methylene blue dye, as well as their activity against HCT-116 human colon cancer cell lines. The synthesised nanocomposites were characterised by FTIR, UV-vis, X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray analysis (EDAX), X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). According to photocatalytic experiments, synthesised nanocomposites breakdown methylene blue dye with an efficiency of 83.20 percent and exhibit a cytotoxic activity of 70% against HCT-116 human colon cancer cell lines at 100 g/ml. GO-CuO nanocomposites show substantial action against cancer cell lines as well as photocatalytic activity when compared to nanoparticles as a whole.
