Antioxidant and Antibacterial Content of Methanolic Extract of Ocimum sanctum and Acalypha indica | Chapter 9 | Current Topics on Chemistry and Biochemistry Vol. 9

Plants rich in subordinate metabolites could be a drug beginning for many untreatable disorders. Being common in the neighborhood, Acalypha indica and Ocimum sanctum were preferred for antioxidant and antimicrobial studies. Bacterial species E.coli, Klebsiella pneumonia, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Enterobacter, Proteus mirabilis, Enterococcus, Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus were proven against the methanolic extract of two together the plant species acquired by cold maceration means. O.altar exhibit a better antioxidant content (258.25 µg/ml GAE and 94 µg/ml QE) with better decontaminating activity against all the class with a maximum of 17mm against E. coli.
