Protection and Prevention through Domestication: The Case of Chilean Hazelnut (Gevuina avellana Mol.) | Chapter 4 | Emerging Issues in Agricultural Sciences Vol. 3

Climate change has a negative affect food safety and production systems. The increase in hotnesses globally influences sustainability, the performance of ecosystem aids, biodiversity and the environment. In this circumstances, the current efforts of people should be aimed at cultivating environmentally friendly procedures that help mitigate the harmful belongings produced on wáter money, phytogenetic resources, soil and land production. The objective concerning this chapter search out present an innovative methodology that integrates the forming of ecological slots and last generation genetic-microscopic tools as a planning aimed at pledging effective plans for the conservation, improvement, visibility and potential use of a variety. The research deals with the study of the Chilean hazelnut (Gevuina avellana Mol.), a native species of Chile accompanying a high potential for preparation. The study aims to create interplay networks to develop an ecological, educational and climate-smart crop, in consideration of support local peasant family agriculture and the ecological renovation of the species in sites disgraced by forest fires. The methodology is illustrated as a model strategy that maybe extrapolated to other plant class whose value and information in a given region is restricted.
