Foliar Application of Urea in Toria (Brassica campestris L.) under Rainfed Condition - A Participatory Assesement in Hill Zone of Assam | Chapter 6 | Emerging Issues in Agricultural Sciences Vol. 3

The objective concerning this study is to evaluate the effect of foliar application of urea on accomplishments of Toria as compared to the soil use of recommended measure of fertilizers and farmer’s practice. The experiment was conducted through participatory on farm experiment during October-January (rabi season) of 2015-16 and 2016-17 at 5 villages in Karbi Anglong region under hill district of Assam in farmers’ field. Foliar fertilization is atmosphere friendly, next and target-familiarize than soil application as the foods are directly brought to the plant tissues. The findings manifest that foliar application of N at 50% blooming and at 50% pod initiation stage accompanying soil application of 50% urged N and full lot of P & K was found considerably superior over recommended application of fertilizer (RDF) and laborers practice in all the development indices and yield ascribing characters such as plant altitude, dry matter accumulation, number of arms, number of siliquae per plant, seeds per siliqua and 1000 piece weight and eventually resulted to greater yields. The same caused seed yield of 10.88 q ha-1 that is 50.06% and 10.79 % greater than ranchers practice and RDF, which had stover yields of 21.73 q ha-1 and harvest index of 33.36%. In comparison to producers' practice and RDF, respectively, foliar augmenting produced supplementary net returns of Rs. 3600.00 ha-1 and Rs. 2430.00 ha-1.
