Little is known about the characteristics of urological malignancies in Manipur, India's north-eastern state, and how they differ from those in other parts of the country.
Aims and objectives: The purpose of this study was to retrospectively examine the frequency, clinical presentation, histological type, grade, and stage of various adult urological malignancies in Manipur and compare them to those in other parts of India.
Material and Methods: Between June 2012 and June 2014, data were gathered from hospital and histology records.
Adult renal carcinoma (7.1%), upper urinary tract carcinoma (14.3%) with male to female ratio 1:5, urinary bladder carcinoma (45.2%) with male to female ratio (1.7:1), urethral carcinoma (2.4%), prostatic carcinoma (26.2%), testis (2.4%), and penis (2.4%) were among the 42 urological cancers discovered (2.4 percent ).
Conclusion: Prostate cancer presented at a later age with a higher grade in Manipur, and urothelial carcinoma of the urinary bladder presented at a later age with a higher grade and a lower male to female ratio than in other Indian states.
