Determining the Comparison of Knowledge, Attitude and Practice of Hand Hygiene among Medical Laboratory Technician and Nursing Students in Jos, Nigeria | Chapter 03 | Emerging Trends in Disease and Health Research Vol. 1

Background: It has long been known that the prevalence and mortality rates of coronary artery disease have increased in the recent decade.

The purpose of this study is to compare the effect of atorvastatin on flow-mediated dilatation (FMD), total cholesterol (TC), and low-density lipoproteins (LDL) in patients with dyslipidemia who are not treated with any hypolipemiant medication (DYS-STAT) versus dyslipidemia patients who are treated with atorvastatin (DYS+STAT).

The DYS-STAT group had a higher prevalence of elevated LDL and TC levels than the DYS+STAT group. In addition, the DYS-STAT group had lower FMD values than the DYS+STAT group.

Conclusion: Our findings imply that atorvastatin treatment improves endothelial function in dyslipidemia patients.
