Facial paralysis affects people of all ages and has far-reaching functional and psychological implications. Surgical therapy is the sole choice in some circumstances, and it is a huge problem for the facial reconstructive surgeon. The goal of this book chapter was to examine current surgical care principles for this difficult patient population. Various surgical procedures and techniques, as well as reported outcomes, were described. Despite the fact that various parameters regulating neuron regeneration have been identified, their regulation still results in unpredictably functioning results. The primary limitations in terms of time and technique decision making remain to be unreliable result prediction and a lack of standardised outcome metrics. Our current study shows that the variations in outcome results are still unclear, and more research is needed.
