Novel Molecular Targeted Therapies against Triple Negative Breast Cancer, Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma, and Adult T-cell Leukemia/Lymphoma by Inhibitors of Carbon Anhydrase IX | Chapter 1 | Research Developments in Medicine and Medical Science Vol. 7

Cancer containers in solid tumors experience a shortened blood supply and hypoxia. To compensate degeneration in the intra-tumorous surroundings, hypoxia inducible factors, HIF-1α, HIF-2α and HIF-3α, are persuaded, and numerous target genes are mobilized by these HIFs. Of these, CA9 is highly important by way of its engrossment in oncogenesis. In this review, first, CA9’s multifaceted roles in tumor cell proliferation, endurance, metastasis and therapy fighting were summarized. Then, it was found that molecular targeted cures by means of CA9 inhibitors against therapy opposing triple negative breast malignancy (TNBC), pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms of the pancreas (IPMN), and adult T-container leukemia/ lymphoma (ATL) were promising new treatments.
