Novel Molecular Targeted Therapies against Triple Negative Breast Cancer, Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma, and Adult T-cell Leukemia/Lymphoma by Inhibitors of Carbon Anhydrase IX | Chapter 1 | Research Developments in Medicine and Medical Science Vol. 7

Cancer containers in solid tumors experience a shortened blood supply and hypoxia. To compensate degeneration in the intra-tumorous surroundings, hypoxia inducible factors, HIF-1α, HIF-2α and HIF-3α, are persuaded, and numerous target genes are mobilized by these HIFs. Of these, CA9 is highly important by way of its engrossment in oncogenesis. In this review, first, CA9’s multifaceted roles in tumor cell proliferation, endurance, metastasis and therapy fighting were summarized. Then, it was found that molecular targeted cures by means of CA9 inhibitors against therapy opposing triple negative breast malignancy (TNBC), pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms of the pancreas (IPMN), and adult T-container leukemia/ lymphoma (ATL) were promising new treatments.

Determination of Histopathological Spectrum of Neoplastic Tumours of Female Reproductive System in a Rural Tertiary Care Centre in India | Chapter 17 | Issues and Developments in Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 1

The purpose of this study is to investigate the incidence of occurrence of various benign and malignant neoplastic lesions of the female reproductive system, including the uterus, cervix, ovaries, vagina, vulva, and breasts, in a rural tertiary care centre over a two-year period.

The study was undertaken at TSM Medical College in Lucknow, India, and is a retrospective study. All formalin-fixed surgical specimens of the female reproductive system were evaluated under light microscopy for histopatholoical alterations from September 2016 to September 2018. Only neoplastic lesions were included in the study, with nonneoplastic lesions being eliminated.

Results: A total of 223 cases representing various neoplastic diseases of the female reproductive system were studied. There were 186 benign and 37 malignant tumours in all. Among the overall neoplasms, there were 71 cases of breast neoplasms, 12 cases of cervix neoplasms, 102 cases of uterus neoplasms, 37 cases of ovaries neoplasms, and 1 case of vulva neoplasms. The uterus was responsible for the majority of benign instances (98). (all leiomyomas). Out of the malignant cases, the most common were Infiltrating Ductal Carcinoma breast (10 cases), cervical cancer (8 cases), ovary (5 cases), and endometrial (2 cases) (4 cases).

Conclusion: Leiomyoma, a benign tumour, is the most frequent neoplasm in the female reproductive system. The most prevalent malignant tumour is infiltrating ductal carcinoma, which is followed by cervical cancer. And among all female genital tract tumours, carcinoma cervix was the most prevalent.

Survival Analysis of Triple Negative Breast Cancer Patients Treated with Anthracycline based Chemotherapy in Central Part of India | Chapter 16 | Issues and Developments in Medicine and Medical Research Vol. 1

TNBC (triple negative breast cancer) is more common in premenopausal and younger women. TNBC are biologically aggressive tumours that have not reacted well to hormonal or targeted therapy, despite evidence that they do. The goal of this trial was to see how effective anthracycline-based adjuvant treatment was in triple negative breast cancer patients.

The goal of this study was to see how triple negative breast cancer patients fared after receiving anthracycline-based chemotherapy.

Materials and Procedures: Between January 2016 and March 2017, a retrospective analysis of 100 post-operative patients with histopathologically verified ductal Carcinoma Breast reported to a tertiary care centre. All of the patients were triple negative, according to immunohistochemistry and fluorescence in situ hybridization. The patients were to receive six rounds of anthracycine-based combination adjuvant chemotherapy. The data was analysed with SPSS 20 and a survival analysis was done.

The total number of patients in this trial was 100. After treatment, 18 patients (18%) defaulted, 29 patients (29%) were lost during future follow-ups, 49 patients (49%) had disease free survival (DFS), and four patients (4%) survived with bone metastases. The three-year overall survival (OS) time was 18.6 months, with a median survival time of 18 months, a disease-free survival time of 7.8 months, and a median survival time of 18 months.

TNBC is a challenge for both patients and professionals because of its dismal prognosis and limited therapeutic choices. TNBC patients who receive adjuvant anthracycline-based combination chemotherapy had a better long-term prognosis.
