Ellagic Acid: Radiosensitization and Radioprotection | Chapter 9 | Research Developments in Medicine and Medical Science Vol. 6

Ellagic acid (EA) is a polyphenol in the direction of grapes, pomegranates, walnuts, etc. exhibits antagonistic-cancer properties. Because of allure diverse microscopic targets and organic mechanisms it as been win popularity. Also, studies have proved that it imposes a differential radioprotective effect onnormal containers and a radiosensitzing effect on tumor cells. The present-epoch cancer situation regimes include the use of artificial chemicals that harm DNA to kill two together cancerous and athletic cells. But because DNA repair processes in containers are effective, two together healthy and malignancy cells can fend off the belongings of these treatments and sooner or later develop drug opposition. Hence, a modality that would cause DNA damage and profit from preventing DNA damage repair must be included.  Studies on a range of tumour forms in workshops have shown that EA has a substantialanti-malignant activity.
