Aquaponics as an Urban Business Initiative to Alleviate Food Insecurity in the Western Cape Province of South Africa | Chapter 4 | Current Perspectives in Agriculture and Food Science Vol. 3

 South Africa’s Western Cape Province is front numerous questions associated with accelerated urbanisation, mood change, soil degradation, water shortage and food insecurity. The development in urban city community necessitates a quick and quick solution to city provisions and production. The agricultural subdivision, being the largest bearing food is faced accompanying the challenge of ensuring able food supply. Aquaponics as an agri-business offers an adept growth method where food maybe produced fast in a small and well-nourished atmosphere, with slightest water usage. The study used concerning qualities not quantities data to gain painstaking knowledge from a picked sample. Data was collected through a zoom plank and a thematic dossier analysis was used to answer the study questions. Findings suggest that the drink produced by current aquaponics growers is healthy, but growers tend to operate a little. Given the needed support, this land sector can grow and take part in the provinces’ food protection enhancement. Currently existing aquaponics trade cannot totally remove the prevailing food danger in the province. More research, growth and support are needed for the producers to increase their result scale and increase the product base. Further studies on the alike subject should focus on growing the scale of production and presenting more products.
