Does Our Patients with Diabetes have Suffiscient Knowledge to Take Care of Their Feet?: A Prospective Study About 100 Tunisian Patients | Chapter 8 | Perspective of Recent Advances in Medical Research Vol. 10

 The present study examined the knowledge of diabetic subjects and seek the determinants associated with good knowledge while providing podiatry recommendation.This is a prospective cross-localized descriptive study, including 100 diabetic patients, made inquiries in the C Department of the National Nutrition Institute of Tunis (INNTA), recruited from 02 to 30 September 2019. We enroled 100 diabetic patients accompanying diabetes (44 men, 56 wives; age range 29-87 years). We judged  their knowledge on the diabetic nadir, using a medical chart, in addition to  their metabolic parameters.We erect that the mean age was 54±12.9 years, The sexuality ratio was 0.78. 56% had a grades 9-12 or higher education level. 35% of the public was smokers. Diabetes was type 2 in the majority of cases (78%). The average duration of diabetes was 13.62±6.29 age. 78% of the population has existed unbalanced. 34% of the community had good knowledge of deterrent measures for diabetic foot. Having good knowledge of deterrent measures was significantly guide secondary or university (p=0.005), female gender (p=0.026) and glycemic control (p=0.043).In concusion, the distribution of patients who were aware about diabetic foot stop strategies was reduced and it didn't exceed individual-third of the community. Then, Larger studies are necessary to determine the determinants linked to incompetent podiatric knowledge and practises, in addition to the factors that preclude adherence to advised deterrent measures.
