Can Acupuncture be an Adjunct Therapy for Bell’s Palsy in Post COVID-19?- A Review | Chapter 10 | Perspective of Recent Advances in Medical Research Vol. 9

 Objectives: To judge the clinical evidence of acupuncture situation for Bell’s palsy and analyze its pertainng to medicine options in post COVID-19 Bell’s palsy subjects.Methods: A comprehensive article search was conducted by two independent investigators utilizing PubMed, MEDLINE, Google scholar, LILACS and the Cochrane Register of Controlled Trials and so forth from 2000 up until 2021, utilizing the following keywords: Bell’s Palsy, covid-19, acupuncture, Mucormycosis, vaccine and steroids. Selection of articles was limited to full-passage articles published in English expression only. We included all randomized reserved trials (RCTs) that distinguished the clinical effects of an acupuncture invasion (acupuncture used unique or add on) accompanying no treatment. Accordingly, RCTs fulfilling the tests were included in the review.Results: Most of the studies were mainly of low concerning details quality and only six randomized controlled troubles (1076 people) were definitely included for the study. In all of the contained studies the treatment group or the acupuncture group reported favorable effects or better effects compared to criterion or control group. No adverse events were stated in any of the contained studies.Conclusions: Our review suggest that Acupuncture can be an help or a good alternate therapy for victims with Bell’s palsy post improvement of COVID-19 infection and especially those accompanying the risk of predisposed determinant for mucormycosis and other harsh health complication. However, the evidence might not be amply robust against mechanics flaws of the included RCTs. Well-planned trials accompanying high concerning details qualities are essential to authorize a strong end about the efficacy of acupuncture for Bell’s palsy.
