Evaluating the Coping Strategies among People Living with HIV/AIDS in Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Kaduna State, Nigeria | Chapter 3 | Research Highlights in Disease and Health Research Vol. 2

 Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV)/Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS) is individual of the most difficult and bewildering social challenges met by contemporary institutions because of its powerful links to sexual and social stigmatised behaviour. The purpose of this study search out evaluate the coping blueprints among community living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in Kaduna central lawmaking district, Nigeria. The study was a transection descriptive design. The mechanism used was Brief COPE (Coping Orientation to Problems Experienced). Problem-focused managing strategies aim to correct or eliminate the causes of stress while affection-focused coping methods are meant to manage with the affective belongings of the hassle. Using a multi-stage sampling method, a sample of 407 participants the one attended antiretroviral clinics was captured from four general nursing homes within the district. The mark population of 10,321 cases served as the action for calculating the sample size. The study's key judgments showed that PLWHA use the question-focused coping method appropriately, accompanying an overall mean of 2.61, and that most of bureaucracy have been acting to try to improve the position. The PLWHA also use the affection focus coping approach appropriately, with an overall average of 2.65, and the plurality of them have taken emotional support from others. However, the use of preventing coping plan was the most low, with an overall mean of 2.82, and the majority of ruling class blamed themselves for the condition. The study told that problem and emotion focus were sufficiently used, while eluding strategy was thickly used. It was therefore urged that health laborers use a variety of methods to experience the PLWHA, particularly on hospital days, on how to use question-focused coping blueprints in order to develop their quality of life.
