Analysis of Fly Ash Filled Foamed Epoxy Polymer Concrete for Thermal and Mechanical Properties | Chapter 01 | Novel Perspectives of Engineering Research Vol. 9

Concrete foaming is a well-known and commonly utilised method for achieving a desirable strength-to-weight ratio. The current project's goal is to assess the mechanical and thermal properties of foamed polymer concrete for use in fire-resistant applications. The fire retardant qualities of a foamed epoxy concrete mix containing fly ash as a filler are tested using aluminium powder as a foaming agent. Fourier Transformed Infrared Spectroscopy was used to assess the interactions. Compression, flexural, and impact testing were used to assess the strength. The findings show a link between the weight percent of elements such as Portland cement, Fly ash, epoxy, and foaming degree. Thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning micrographs revealed a shift in the breakdown temperature, resulting in higher fire retardant behaviour.
