Biochemical Evaluation and Ethnomedicinal Uses of Wild Plants in Eastern Himalayas of Arunachal Pradesh, India | Chapter 02 | Research Aspects in Biological Science Vol. 1

Clerodendrum colebrookianum (Oyin), Pouzolzia bennettianum (Oyik), Zanthoxylum rhetsa (Onyor), and Mussaenda glabra were used in this study to assess and validate the relationship between nutritional and antioxidant properties and ethnomedicinal uses of four commonly used wild plants in Arunachal Pradesh, namely Clerodendrum colebrookianum (Oyin), Pouzolzia bennettian (Taksap). Carbohydrate and starch content were highest in M. glabra (169.5 + 0.2 g/ml) and Z. rhetsa (13.6 + 0.2 g/ml), according to the data. C. colebrookianum had the highest levels of protein, phenol, and ascorbic acid (367.0 + 0.3 g/ml), (250.0 + 0.3 g/ml), and (66.6 + 0.3 mg/100g), respectively. The plant P. bennettiana showed the greatest DPPH activity (91.4 +0.6%). The nutritional and antioxidant characteristics of these wild plants were discovered to be connected, as were their ethnomedicinal applications by indigenous groups.
