Chronic pain is a major chronic health concern, and access to pain management is a fundamental human right, according to the Montréal Declaration of the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP). The goal of this study was to develop concepts of physical analgesia or physical modalities for pain relief, as well as to present basic methodologies and mechanisms. In patients with neurologic and rheumatologic disorders, as well as orthopaedic and traumatic situations, pain management is a crucial aspect of rehabilitation algorithms.
