Phenomenal Impacts of Climate Change and Emigration on Agricultural Production in Nigeria | Chapter 04 | Current Topics in Agricultural Sciences Vol. 6

 Agriculture's contribution to Nigeria's gross domestic product has decreased as a result of numerous reasons, most notably climate change and emigration. As a result, the study looked at how climate change and emigration have impacted agricultural production in Nigeria. The study's goals were to evaluate the detrimental and beneficial effects of climate change on agricultural production in Nigeria, as well as the accompanying implications of emigration. Reduced food production, poverty, high commodity prices, degradation of arable lands, aquatics, and other negative effects of climate change can be evident. Its benefits include the stimulation and assistance of soil microbial organisms, which improves soil aeration, structure, and texture. Others include improved plant growth and photosynthetic crop assistance. Emigration has two effects: it reduces the agricultural labour force in the migratory location while increasing the labour force in the destination region. To prevent rural-urban drift, the study suggests raising knowledge about the effects of climate change and providing rural infrastructure.
