The study's goals were to convert organic waste into biogas as a source of alternative renewable energy and to produce bio-fertilizer (inorganic fertilizer). The digestion of solid waste by anaerobic bacteria (methanogenic bacteria) in an air-tied environment or closed system such as a biodigester or bioreactor has resulted in the creation of biogas (biomethane). Biogas is made up of of methane (CH4), carbon dioxide (CO2), and hydrogen sulphide (H2S). All gases that can be combusted or oxidised with oxygen include methane, hydrogen, and carbon monoxide (CO2). Biogas can be utilised as a fuel because of the energy emitted. The first biodigester is filled with cow dung and water (1dm3 + 1 dm3), the second is filled with solid waste and water (1,5 dm3 + 0,5 dm3), and the third is filled with cow dung and biotech culture (2dm3) and is dubbed Control-K. After a time of homogeneity and stabilisation (4-12 days), each biodigester's biogas production was recorded, and the slurry (liquid component) was collected and used as liquid fertiliser. To summarise, biogas (biomethane) and liquid fertiliser were created from organic waste (biofertilizer).
