In today's world, stress affects the majority of people, either directly or indirectly. Stress, whether physical, emotional, or psychological, has gotten a lot of attention in recent years as a cause or exacerbating factor for numerous diseases such as diabetes, hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism, Cushing's disease, and so on. Meditation is a simple behavioural intervention that anyone of any age or physical condition may learn and practise. Meditation has been shown to modify autonomic regulation of homeostatic systems, as well as have favourable physiological consequences. A cross-sectional study was undertaken on 60 patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus, 30 of whom had been practising Raja Yoga meditation for more than 5 years and 30 of whom had not. Meditation practitioners had significantly lower blood glucose and glycated haemoglobin levels. Practitioners of meditation also had lower lipid profiles, total cholesterol, and serum triglycerides. As a result, we discovered that meditation helps to preserve autonomic balance in people with type 2 diabetes.
