The goal of this study is to assess and compare the levels of discomfort experienced during debonding using three distinct procedures, as well as the adhesive remnant index (ARI) scores, using the Visual analogue scale (VAS).
Materials and Procedures: The study looked
at 50 female patients from a single clinic, with an average age of 24 years and
5 months. The three methods employed to study during orthodontic appliance
debonding were a lift-off debonding device, a straight cutter, and a Howe
plier. At the end of debonding, each quadrant's discomfort levels were assessed
using a visual analogue scale (VAS). The leftover adhesive on the enamel
surface was investigated using ARI.
The Straight Cutter approach resulted in much higher pain levels. The method of
using a lift off debonding device caused the least discomfort. The three
techniques used by ARI provided a wide range of results.
