Study on Cannabis Compounds: An approach to Pharmacotherapy for Epilepsy in Children | Chapter 13 | Technological Innovation in Pharmaceutical Research Vol. 10

Children's epilepsy is a complicated condition with a number of different symptoms and treatment choices. Despite the numerous therapeutic options available, childhood epilepsies are frequently linked with seizures that are resistant to current treatments. Pediatric epilepsy is difficult to treat, and more effective treatment is needed to minimise short- and long-term neurological complications. Marijuana has been used to treat illness from the beginning of time. Cannabidiol (CBD) and D9-Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), two marijuana components, have sparked a lot of study interest as prospective epilepsy treatment possibilities. THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is the psychoactive component of marijuana that helps to reduce epileptic seizures. CBD has been shown to have anticonvulsant properties in both experimental and clinical investigations. Medical marijuana's safety and anticonvulsant qualities have been proven in research investigations. Lack of standardisation and control, imprecise dose, probable harmful side effects, and drug interactions are all major concerns when it comes to the use of medical marijuana in children.
