An Opinion on the Art of Dealing with the Patient | Chapter 3 | Highlights on Medicine and Medical Science Vol. 14

Physicians are regarded as some of society's most honourable individuals. To describe their social status, they are referred to as "Vaidya Bhagawan," or "Gods." They are revered by the common people as well as by the rulers. Since time immemorial, the tradition of appointing "ROYAL PHYSICIAN - RAJAVAIDYA" has endured. A physician is thought to be the person who earns the spiritual peace "DHARMA" since he or she brings "life and relief from suffering" to a diseased person.

However, despite their honour and respect, physicians must take numerous measures during their practise, as they are vulnerable to dishonour and slander at the same time. As a result, every physician should earn the skill of dealing with patients.
