Every building needs openings.
Openings are typically absent from modern structures for reasons including
ventilation, thermal comfort, and wind flow. The courtyard is essential to
maintaining the comforts in the home in terms of lighting, ventilation, and
thermal comfort. In this study, the thermal conditions of residential
structures in coastal locations are examined. examining the function of the
courtyard and its effect on the thermal conditions within, with an emphasis on
the temperature inside. Better living solutions must be developed along with
adaptations and lessons learned from the past in order to be sustainable.
